I am delighted to welcome you to Bethnal Green Academy. We are a high-achieving, outstanding academy located in East London, and have established a proud tradition for student improvement over the past few years.

Since the current senior leadership team took over in 2007, Bethnal Green Academy has been on a remarkable journey of progress. Beginning as a low-achieving school, the implementation of a range of measures to improve student achievement has paid tremendous dividends, leading to consistent increases in GCSE success. By 2015, the percentage of students gaining five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths reached an exceptional 88%, cementing our status as one of the most improved schools in the country. We received the highest rating of ‘Outstanding’ in our last Ofsted inspection in 2012.

We believe that the achievement and well-being of our students should be at the heart of everything we do. We combine outstanding teaching with a rewarding, enriching curriculum which broadens students’ horizons and encourages them to believe in their abilities. Alongside classroom learning, students have a range of opportunities to enhance their skills and prepare themselves for future life, including university trips and visits from a variety of successful employers. We are also extremely proud of our status as a centre of excellence for teacher training, helping to develop passionate, exceptional teachers and visionary leaders.

We are extremely proud of the culture of high achievement and harmonious learning environment that we have here at Bethnal Green Academy, and look forward to sustaining our success into the future. If you wish to meet us or see the academy in action, please feel free to contact us and we will be delighted to talk to you.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bethnal Green Academy.

Congratulations Class of 2015:
Record Breaking GCSE Results

We are delighted to announce that this year’s GCSE students have achieved record-breaking results with a phenomenal *88% of students achieving 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths.

This places the Academy a staggering 35% points and 28% points above the 2014 national and local averages and is likely to secure our position at the top of the Tower Hamlets league table. We are now on a national platform competing with some of the most successful, outstanding schools across the country.

In addition to the headline figure, 28% of students achieved 3+ A* and A grades and 43% secured the academic EBacc pathway, another result well above the national average.

The levels of progress achieved by our talented and ambitious students are exceptional, with 23% making 5 levels of progress in Maths and 53% of students making 4 levels of progress in English since joining the Academy.

This follows last week’s A Level results which saw 97% of our Sixth Form students securing passes for their post 16 courses. There were further stories of exceptional achievement here too with a staggering 39% of students obtaining the coveted A*-B grades this year; qualifications that will undoubtedly support their future employability as over 90% of students secured their places at university.
